Upper East REGSEC Chair assures no repeat of Military-Prison Fracas in Bawku


The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) Chairman, Dr. Hafiz Bin-Salih, has given assurance that the recent clash between Military and Prison officers in Bawku will not happen again.


He expressed his commitment towards ensuring peace in the area and across the region, adding that his aim is to prevent conflicts from happening in the first place.


In a meeting with security agencies in Bawku, the Chairman interacted with the officers to resolve the misunderstanding that occurred on April 24, 2024, and ensured that the issue was resolved peacefully.


He also assured the agencies of his commitment to introducing fun games and other activities aimed at fostering peace and unity among them.

During his courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Bawku Traditional Area, Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, the Hon. Dr. Bin-Salih introduced himself as the new Regional Minister and pledged to work towards peace and development in the entire region.


He also acknowledged that Bawku used to be a vibrant economic hub, but the same could not be said of the area today.


The Hon. Dr. Bin-Salih was accompanied by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) for the Northern Command, Brigadier General Frank Tei, and REGSEC members including the Chief Director of the Regional Coordinating Council, Alhaji Abubakari Inusah.
