The Teachers and Educational Workers Union of the Trade Union Congress, TEWU has urged the government of Ghana to ensure equal access to education by every child of school going age .

According to TEWU, some children of school going age in some communities in the country are unable to access education due to no or limited school infrastructure.

Mr Mark Korankye, the General Secretary of TEWU raised the concern during the 13th quadrennial Conference of the Union in the Upper West Region.

The Conference was on the theme: ““Fostering Partnership for equitable education delivery in Ghana; the role of Teachers and Educational Workers Union",

The conference afforded members TEWU the opportunity to elect it leaders to man the activities of the Union for the next four years.

Mr Korankye said though it is important for private sector participation in education delivery in Ghana, but the government must live up to its expectation by investing heavily into education in the country

Mr Korankye also called on stakeholders in education to form alliance to promote girl-child education in the country.

Professor Kenneth Peprah, the Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance at the SDD-UBIDS at the occasion urged members of TEWU to put quality education of the Ghanaian child first before any other thing.
