The Sissala East Municipal Assembly has announced a temporary ban on the construction of any projects on government lands that were sold under previous administrations. The decision was disclosed by Hon. Adamu Yakubu, the Municipal Chief Executive, during a briefing on the state of the municipality in Wa.
Hon. Yakubu revealed that the Assembly has summoned the Lands Commission to appear before the Assembly to provide explanations regarding the sale of government lands without prior approval from local authorities. The move aims to safeguard public lands and ensure proper oversight in land transactions.
In addition to land matters, Hon. Yakubu announced that the Municipal Assembly is making significant strides to reclaim the Tumu cotton ginnery from a private investor who has reportedly abandoned the facility for several years. The Assembly plans to revitalize the ginnery and utilize the warehouses to benefit local farmers, thereby bolstering agricultural development in the region.
The Assembly's initiatives underscore its commitment to land security and agricultural growth, seeking to address past irregularities and promote sustainable development within the municipality.
