Residents of Kunyukuo Appeals for An Irrigation Dam
Some residents of Kunyukuo in the Lawra municipality of the Upper West Region have appealed to the government to provide the community with an irrigation dam to enable them engage in dry season farming.
According to the residents, the only river at the community which provides them with water to engage in irrigation farming dry up in the dry season, leaving the people with no source of economic activity.
Madam Edith Kog told Info Radio News team at the community that having the dam will enable them to grow vegetables for consumption.
A Unit Committee Member of the Kunykuo Electoral Area also appealed to the government to help provide the youth in the community with sources of income.
The President Akuffo-Addo led government introduced the one-village-one-dam programme to construct small dams in every village in the country as part of measures to improve on irrigation farming in the country.
