Residents of Goli Faces Water Crisis and Calls for Urgent Action
In the Goli community in the Nadowli-Kaleo district of the Upper West Region, residents are grappling with an ongoing water crisis that has severely impacted daily life. Several boreholes, which previously served as the community’s primary water sources, remain non-functional, leaving many families without reliable access to clean water. This prolonged scarcity has compounded difficulties in maintaining hygiene and meeting basic household needs.
During an interview with Info Radio, Assembly Member for the area honorable Jupiter Sungdong addressed these pressing issues. He acknowledged the community’s struggles, noting that the lack of water has created significant hardship for residents. However, he also reported some positive developments, stating that a number of boreholes have been repaired following consultations with local elders and the Member of Parliament. These efforts aim to restore water access and alleviate the community’s plight.
Mr. Sungdong further highlighted the community’s deteriorating road infrastructure, describing it as a major barrier to mobility and economic activity. He called for the urgent construction of a road connecting Serekpere to Duong, emphasizing that improved infrastructure is vital for easing transportation challenges. The Assembly Member appealed to relevant stakeholders to support initiatives that will enhance road connectivity and overall community development.
