Residents of Chaggu appeal for support to complete maternity project

The residents of Chaggu in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region have appealed to charitable organizations and individuals to support the community to complete a maternity ward project.

The community initiated the project under construction and is currently a little above its foundation stage but stalled due to a lack of resources.

Speaking to Info Radio at Chaggu, the residents indicated that, the maternity unit, when completed, would help alleviate the challenges women went through to access skilled delivery services at Bulenga, the mother sub-district which is about 2-3 miles away from the Chaggu Community.

The residents, therefore, appealed to organizations and stakeholders particularly the Wa East District Assembly and the Member of Parliament for Wa East Constituency, Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw to support them to complete the delivery room project in order to improve healthcare services in the community as far as their health needs are concerned.

The Assembly Member for Chaggu Electoral Area in the Wa East District, Mr. Abdulai Shahid also said the initiation became necessary to improve access to skilled delivery services at the comfort of the Chaggu CHPS Compound.

Hon. Abdulai said several efforts have been made through the District Assembly in Wa East about the project but nothing positive is heard from the office of the Assembly yet.
