The Public Utilities Regulatory Communication (PURC) in the Upper West Region hosted an end-of-year party, bringing together key utility providers, the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO), Ghana Water Company Limited, and members of the media.

The event, held under the umbrella of PURC's Regional Manager, Cassiel Eghan Asiedu, was aimed at ensuring utility providers deliver quality services to consumers.

Mr. Asiedu highlighted PURC's commitment to overseeing and guaranteeing the provision of quality services by utility providers throughout the year. He said they have recorded about 781 complaints and they have resolved about 771.

He added that the commission will position itself strategically in 2024 through capacity building, transparency, and enforcement. He said now utility providers can file complaints against customers.

The end-of-year celebration served not only as a festive occasion but also as a symbolic gesture of the ongoing commitment to ensuring that utility providers consistently meet the expectations of consumers in the Upper West Region.

The Upper West Area Engineer for the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO), Mr Daniel Awortwe has highlighted a critical challenge affecting service delivery in the region.

Outdated transformers are hindering the provision of quality services, prompting NEDCO to urge swift upgrades.

The call emphasized the necessity of modern infrastructure to meet the region's growing energy demands and ensure a reliable electricity supply.

The Regional Chief Manager for the Ghana Water Company, Kwesi Abebrese commended consumers for their timely report of faults in water pipes.
