Parents with children enrolled at Kanyini Basic School in the Nadowli-Kaleo district are dissatisfied with the current condition of the school.

They complained that the school lacked furniture and had an insufficient number of teachers to provide quality education to their children.

Several parents, while speaking to Info Radio at the school, asserted that their children were underperforming due to the shortage of competent teachers at the school.

They also mentioned that there was no teacher assigned to the entire Kindergarten.

One of the parent said, "Our children are attending school, but unfortunately, there is a lack of adequate furniture for them to sit and learn comfortably. As a carpenter, I felt compelled to collect broken chairs and repair them in order to support our children's education."

During the farming season, some parents accused the school teachers of using their children to farm, leading the children to seek work in illegal mining sites for money.

The teachers in our community are farming more than the actual farmers. They send the few children who attend school to work on the farm during the rainy season. As a result, these children grow up with little education and often turn to illegal mining, known as "Gallamsey," for income instead of pursuing their studies,” he added.
