The Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University in the Upper West Region is poised to alleviate its accommodation challenges with the construction of a new 400-bed student hostel facility. The project, officially launched during a sod-cutting ceremony, marks a significant milestone in the university’s development and commitment to student welfare.
The contractors of the project, Global Investment Limited’s Resident Engineer, Mr. Rahaman Kamaldeen, announced that construction commenced on October 23, 2025, with an expected completion date of April 22, 2027. According to him, the four-story hostel will be fully furnished with beds and modern amenities, offering a comfortable and conducive living environment for students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Upper West Regional Minister Charles Lwanga Puozuing described the initiative as a landmark development for the university. He highlighted that this will be the institution’s first dedicated hostel, with a capacity of 400 students, and noted its significance as one of the largest infrastructure projects in the region.
The project has garnered enthusiasm from the university community, including the Student Representative Council (SRC). The University's SRC President Ms. Nyuuri Diana Sungnuma speaking to Info Radio expressed her excitement, emphasizing that the lack of adequate accommodation has been a persistent issue for students. She noted that many students have struggled with housing arrangements in Wa and surrounding areas due to the current limited facilities.
This development is expected to significantly improve student welfare and enhance the academic environment at Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University, setting a new standard for regional educational infrastructure.
