Residents of Nankpanabule, a remote farming community in the Wa West District, are appealing to the government for urgent intervention to improve road access, extend electricity, and introduce the School Feeding Programme in their school.
The community, which remains without basic infrastructure, says the lack of good roads and electricity is stifling its development and leaving residents behind.
“We don’t have good roads or electricity. Because of this, we are not developing like other communities,” said Mr Yelikan-Don-Aluu, a concerned resident, during an interview with Info Radio.
He added that schoolchildren walk long distances on poor roads, and the lack of school feeding makes education even more difficult for many families. He urged authorities to consider including the community in the School Feeding Programme to boost attendance and relieve pressure on parents.
Another resident, Mr. Gmeniyel Sunnkari, emphasized the urgent need for electricity.
“Electricity will help our children study at night and improve their education. We are being left out,” he said.
Residents say the community’s challenges are affecting education, health, and economic activities.
They are calling on the government, the Wa West District Assembly and relevant agencies to act swiftly and bring development to Nankpanabulea.
