Nakore-Chansa Youth Give Wa Municipal Assembly Until October 2 To Address Land Concerns
A cross-section of Youth in the Nakore-Chansa Electoral Area of the Wa Municipality have given the leadership of the Wa Municipal Assembly until October 2, 2026, to address concerns over the alleged sale of portions of land they say was reserved for the Wa Municpal Assembly for development projects in the municipality.
In a press release issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Nakore/Chansa Electoral Area Unit Committee, the youth said they were concerned about activities linked to the alleged sale and purchase of the land.
They claim the approximately seven-acre parcel of land, equivalent to about 28 plots was allocated to the Wa Municipal Assembly by the Nakore Chief, Nakore Naa Yakubu, and the Chief of Balawa, Balawa Naa Yakubu. According to them, part of the land has since been used to construct the Municipal Electoral Commission office.
The youth said the land should be protected for public development and preserved for future generations. They have called on the relevant authorities to investigate and resolve the matter before the deadline.
According to them, If their concerns remain unaddressed, they will hold a press conference to state their position and outline their next lawful community action. A peaceful demonstration may also follow to draw attention to the issue and press for the land’s protection.
