MoFA is Creating Jobs for the Youth through Agriculture-YEA


The Wa Municipal Director for the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr Adams Mahamuda, has said the

Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) have formulated plans to create jobs for the youth through agriculture.

According to Mr Adams, the government is working hard to secure lands to support young people who are interested in farming.

He indicated that the government will provide them with fertilizer, seeds and agrochemicals for free to farm.

In an interview with Info Radio in Wa, Mr Adams also added that they will be organizing skills training for the youth to boost their skills in the agricultural sector.

“The selected youth will receive training on best farming practices from the Ministry of Agriculture. Extension Officers will be assigned to the beneficiary youth farms”, he added.

He also added that the government will provide livestock to those who want to rear animals.

Mr Adams, again, noted that the government is also committed to supporting the youth who are also interested in learning apprenticeship.

He disclosed that five (5) professional tailors and dressmakers in the Upper West Region here will each receive GH₵10,000.00 from the government to train 10 young people who are interested in learning the trade.
