Mass overdependence on boreholes causes frequent breakdowns in Gbelzieyiri


Residents of Gbelzieyiri in the Tuasaah Electoral Area of the Wa East District have lamented the mass population of the community depending on three boreholes, mounting pressure on the boreholes and causing frequent breakdowns.


Speaking to Info Radio at the community, Madam Theresah said their children do not sometimes bath or wash their uniforms before going to school because of the inadequate potable water.


She added that their children do not always get water to drink at the school.


Madam Theresah lamented that, they are sometimes compelled to drink contaminated water from the stream and get sick which is a worried to them.


Some residents said they have outnumbered three boreholes and queue to fetch water and also delay in going to farm.


They added that they have to trek 3 to 4 kilometers before they can have access to stream water whenever all the boreholes break down.


Another Residents Mr. Jato Bakoale also indicated that their children go to school and come back when they are thirst and refuse to go to class again.


They have therefore appealed to government and benevolent organizations to come to aid with water at their school.
