Jirapa Constituency: MP initiates construction of male, female wards at Hain Polyclinic

The Member of Parliament for Jirapa constituency, Cletus Seidu Dapilah, has broken ground for the construction of male and female wards for the Hain polyclinic.

"The facility is located in our community, but it serves a lot of people from different communities. This puts a lot of pressure on the facility, especially when it comes to admitting patients. Sometimes, when I visit the facility, I witness poor conditions where patients have to sit on tables and chairs. It's heartbreaking to see them in such situations,” he said.

The Hain polyclinic serves six sub-districts in the Jirapa Municipality and several communities from other districts. However, the nineteen-bed capacity polyclinic suffers from inadequate maternity space.

On April 1st, Mr Dapilah donated 100 bags of cement and pledged to provide all the necessary building materials until the project is completed.

He said, "Our party is not in power, but we can do something. That is why today we are sitting here to start the construction of male and female wards for the facility so that the pressure will reduce."

He further mentioned that he would continue to support the polyclinic's development until it attains hospital status. Mr Dapilah encouraged the community to support the project by offering communal labor.

"We don't want to award a contract. Instead, I'd like us to support ourselves and build the wards. I will provide all the necessary building materials, and the community can also support through labor when they start the building," he explained.

The Medical Superintendent, Mr Joshua Ayarigah, thanked the lawmaker on behalf of the staff for his continuous donations to the facility.

“I’ve been here for few years but I can attest to the fact that the MP is someone who is willing to help develop the community.”

“I also want to passionately congratulate him for this monumental project that he is bringing to this polyclinic,” he added.

He explained that the patient population of the polyclinic is constantly increasing in size, and the number of referrals from the sub-districts is also increasing day by day. He noted that the project will go a long way to help improve the space in the facility.

Mr Dapilah moved to the wards to visit all the patients in the facility and gave them gifts for Easter. After visiting the polyclinic, he paid a courtesy call to the Parish Priest and the entire church members for Easter.
