Info Radio Launches Exciting New Music Reality Show, “Next Upper West Music Star,” Offering GHC25, 000 Prize Package

Info Radio 91.1 FM, a Wa based Commercial Radio Station has officially announced the launch of a groundbreaking music reality show, “The Next Upper West Music Star,” Premiered on Friday, June 5, 2025 on Live Radio, the show aims to discover, nurture, and propel emerging musical talents from the Upper West Region onto the national and international stage.

During a lively live broadcast on Friday, the station’s Events Committee unveiled details of the competition, highlighting a remarkable prize package valued at GHC25,000. This comprehensive reward includes cash, a recording contract, promotional deals, and mentorship opportunities, all designed to accelerate the careers of the region’s aspiring artists.

Osuman Kaapore Tahiru, News Editor at Info Radio and a key member of the organizing committee, emphasized the show’s significance: “The Next Upper West Music Star is more than just a competition. It's an investment in raw talent. We’re providing artists with a professional platform, backed by resources and mentorship, to help them break into the mainstream industry.”

Auditions are set to kick off in July at the Info Radio studios. Aspiring contestants aged 12 and above can secure registration forms for GHC100.00 through various channels, including the station’s website, front desk of Info Radio, and partner radio stations across the Upper West Region.

Marcelinus Seiworb, the Event Lead and Info Radio Music Studio Producer, revealed that a panel of esteemed music industry professionals will serve as judges and mentors throughout the four-month competition. The show will be broadcast weekly on Info Radio and its digital platforms, with audience votes playing a crucial role in selecting the eventual winner.

The official unveiling was attended by representatives from the Musician Union  of Ghana (MUSIGA) and celebrated local artists such as Prince Karim, Samson B, and Sypha. All praised the initiative as a much-needed boost to the region’s underfunded but lively creative industry.
