Abdul-Latif Sinsew Osman, the Upper West Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), speaking to Info Radio on the flooding situation attributed the flooding to inadequate drainage systems. He explained that indiscriminate disposal of refuse into waterways and drains has significantly exacerbated the situation. Mr. Osman also expressed concern over the construction of buildings on waterways, warning that such practices worsen flooding and heighten disaster risks.

According to him NADMO is intensifying public education efforts as the rainy season progresses. The organization is urging residents to refrain from building on waterways and to adopt proper waste disposal methods to mitigate future flooding incidents.

Authorities emphasize that community cooperation and responsible environmental practices are crucial in preventing future disasters and safeguarding lives and property during the rainy season.
