Gongbile Community pleads for Commissioning of Health Facility

Abandoned Gongbile Clinic building

The residents of Gongbile in the Dabo Electoral Area of the Wa West District are calling on the District Assembly and the District Health Directorate to commission the community clinic that was built about a year ago.

The clinic, constructed by the District Assembly, is yet to be furnished and staffed. This has caused great concern to the residents of the community as they struggle to access quality healthcare services. Currently, they have to transport sick patients from the community to Dorimon Health Centre for medical care, which puts a strain on their limited finances.

Madam Mary Timothy, a resident, expressed her concern about the situation, saying: “What is really affecting us much in this community is our health. We have a building which was completed some few years ago but is yet to be opened for us to benefit. This worries us.”

She appealed to the relevant authorities to come to the aid of the community and ensure that the clinic is opened to the residents.

Another resident of the community, Madam Sophia Saakoma, stated that the District Directorate should assign nurses to the facility to provide them with primary healthcare.

She mentioned that they sometimes find it difficult to find a means of transport to send their sick children to the Dorimon Health Centre for medical attention.

Mr Gunaa Kenneth, a resident, also appealed to benevolent individuals and organizations to help them make the facility operational.
