GNAT walks to keep fit for academic work


The Wa District Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has organized a health walk for its members to mark World Teachers' Day and also keep their bodies fit for academic work.

The walk saw the teachers and some members of the public walk through some principal streets of Wa amid drumming and aerobics over the weekend.

Speaking to Info Radio during the event, the District Youth Coordinator of GNAT, Mr Sidik Marizuk said the walk was to climax the celebration of the World Teachers' Day which fell on October every year.

He added that it was to burn excess fat and also fraternizes with fellow teachers.

He encouraged young teachers to regularly undertake physical exercises to keep themselves healthy.

He said regular exercise was a way of preventing illnesses and prolonging one’s life.

The District GNAT Chairman, Mr Elyasu Anbanbeo, addressing the teachers at a parade after the walk, said it is part of the plans of the GNAT District Council to institute a monthly health walk for its members.

The Wa District of GNAT is composed of the Wa Municipal and Wa West political districts.
