Eight years after it was established, Gboriteng Primary School is still operating in two dilapidated mud classrooms built by the community, leaving its six classes to share the cramped spaces.

The three lower-primary classes use one room, while the three upper-primary classes are taught in the other.

Community member and teacher Samson Bunaa told Info News that the overcrowded arrangement is undermining teaching and learning. He said promises to improve the school’s infrastructure had not been fulfilled.

The community is appealing to the Wa West District Assembly and the government to provide suitable classrooms, saying pupils deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to learn.
