Ghana Bar Association to Hold 29th Annual General Conference in Wa, Upper West Region

The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) is set to convene its 29th Annual General Conference from September 14th to 19th, 2025, in the vibrant town of Wa, Upper West Region. Under the theme “Sustaining the 4th Republican Constitutional Democracy: The Role of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession,” the conference aims to underscore the critical contributions of Ghana’s judiciary and legal practitioners in safeguarding the nation’s democratic principles.
In a radio interview on Info Radio on Friday, Lawyer Abdul Saed Shakur, the Upper West Regional State Attorney, along with a team of lawyers and GBA members, highlighted the significance of the upcoming event. He described it as a historic occasion that requires the collective support of all stakeholders committed to strengthening Ghana’s constitutional democracy.

According to Lawyer Lawyer Abdul Saed Shakur, “the primary purpose of the conference is to facilitate in-depth discussions on the vital role played by the judiciary and legal professionals in upholding Ghana’s democratic fabric” . “It will also serve as a platform for legal experts, policymakers, and community leaders to examine strategies for enhancing the independence, integrity, and effectiveness of the legal system”.
The first day of the conference is expected to be distinguished by the presence of prominent dignitaries from the legal fraternity, including the President of Ghana, who is anticipated to serve as the main guest of honor.

Lawyer Speratus Ongoh, a member of the Ghana Bar Association, shared insights about the conference’s innovative outreach initiatives. In a Radio Interview on Info Radio, he revealed that , the conference has a plan for legal outreach programs targeting schools within the region, as well as the launch of a pioneering “Legacy Project”—the first of its kind by the Ghana Bar Association, aimed at fostering legal literacy and community engagement.
