Funsi Senior High School launches 10th anniversary amidst challenges

Funsi Senior High School, established in 2014 through collaboration between the Funsi community and the government, launched its 10th anniversary on Saturday, 11th February, 2024.

The anniversary will be celebrated on the theme, “Celebrating diversity-Highlighting the multiculturalism and inclusivity within the school’s community for academic excellence and the world of work.”

However, the school has been facing numerous challenges since its inception. During the celebration, Mr Sulamani Dramani, the school headmaster, highlighted some of the difficulties the school has been facing.

He mentioned inadequate learning materials, water, infrastructure, and means of transport as the major challenges.

Mr Dramani lamented the stress the students and staff go through before getting water for domestic use.

He explained that students have to join long queues with community members before they can get water to use, which affects academic activities in the school.

Mr Dramani further mentioned that the school has no well-finished computer laboratory, which is affecting the students' performance in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

He called on benevolent individuals and organizations to come to their aid. Despite these challenges, the school has recorded some significant achievements in the past decade.

The school started with 151 students comprising 91 boys and 60 girls, and with less than 28 staff. However, the school has since grown with an increase in the number of students and staff.

The headmaster, therefore, appealed to individuals and organizations to support the school to ensure that it continues to provide quality education to students in the area.
