Residents of Duccie in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region have voiced growing frustration over the persistent lack of electricity in their community, highlighting years of unmet promises and government neglect. Speaking exclusively to Info Radio, community members lamented that despite numerous appeals through the district assembly and engagements with both past and current officials, their pleas have yet to be addressed.

For several years, residents have sought to extend the national power grid to Duccie, citing the significant impact of electricity shortages on local development. The absence of power has hampered the growth of small businesses, limited economic opportunities, and heightened security concerns, particularly at night when darkness prevails.

Community members speaking to Info Radio expressed disappointment with the lack of tangible action from authorities, noting that assurances from District Chief Executives and Members of Parliament have repeatedly fallen short. Despite promises made to resolve the issue, no concrete steps have been taken, fueling a sense of disillusionment and frustration among residents.

As hopes for electrification fade amid ongoing neglect, the community continues to call on government officials to fulfill their commitments and prioritize the development of Duccie. The community’s plight underscores the urgent need for infrastructural investment to foster growth and ensure safety for its residents.
