Mr. Eric Faanuba Dakurah, the former Regional Secretary for the National Democratic Congress , has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for re-nominating Madam Mary Haruna once again as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Nadowli-Kaleo District.

Mr. Dakurah’s statement emphasizes that the renomination underscores the President’s confidence in Madam Haruna’s leadership qualities and dedication. He highlighted that her appointment is a significant step towards fostering inclusive governance and promoting women’s empowerment within the Upper West Region. Notably, Madam Haruna remains the only female nominee for the position across the entire region, symbolizing a progressive move to diversify leadership in the district.

While acknowledging that Madam Haruna was not confirmed during the initial confirmation round on April 28, 2025, where she secured 24 votes in favor and 28 against, Mr. Dakurah expressed optimism. “This second opportunity offers all stakeholders a chance for sober reflection and unity of purpose,” he said. He urged all key players, including Hon. Assembly Members, Traditional Authorities, Women Groups, Youth, and Civil Society, to rally behind Madam Haruna, describing her as a "competent and committed daughter of our land."

Mr. Dakurah also warned against complacency, urging the district to avoid lagging behind other districts that have already confirmed their MMDCEs and are making strides in development. “Nadowli-Kaleo must also hit the ground running,” he stated, emphasizing Madam Haruna’s experience, humility, and development-oriented vision as the qualities that make her the right leader at this crucial time.

He further remarked that her confirmation would mark a historic achievement—the first time a woman from the NDC party has been appointed as DCE for Nadowli-Kaleo. “Let’s make history. Let’s choose development,” he concluded, calling on all stakeholders to support Madam Haruna’s confirmation.

In a statement issued and copied to Info Radio, Mr. Dakurah expressed gratitude to President Mahama, the Hon. Assembly Members, and the people of Nadowli-Kaleo for their continued support and commitment to progress.

As the district awaits the final confirmation, the call for unity and development resonates strongly among residents and leaders alike, with many hopeful that Madam Mary Haruna’s leadership will usher in a new era of progress for Nadowli-Kaleo.
