Female education in Karni is a challenge as females' interest fades

ree

The Chief of Karni in the Lambussie District, Naa Edward Folo, has observed that female education is a major challenge in the community.

He said some females have lost interest in education and easily dropped out of school along the line.

Naa Folo raised the concern in an interview with Info Radio at Loho on the sideline of a community development validation workshop organised by the Wa Satellite Peace Centre.

He explained that some of the girls fell for monies and thus follow illegal miners who return to the community with little money and get pregnant in the process.

The Chief explained that poor access to healthcare services in the community is also a challenge they are battling.

He indicated that though there are about two health facilities in the community, their services are limited thereby forcing some sick persons to be transported to Jirapa to access service delivery.

He also indicated that the road network linking the community to major towns including Lawra and Jirapa is in a bad state.
