Residents of Dornye, a farming community in the Wa West District, is still grappling with the aftermath of a fierce rainstorm that devastated the area in June 2025. Over 200 households suffered extensive damage , roofs torn off, homes destroyed, and families left homeless. Despite initial assurances from the Wa West District Chief Executive Richard Wulo and the District NADMO office, residents say they have yet to see the promised aid.
In the wake of the disaster, Hon. Wulo visited Dornye, promising support for re-roofing homes and providing food supplies to help families recover. However, three months have passed, and many residents are still waiting for the assistance they were promised. Frustration is mounting as some residents have been forced to borrow money or live with friends and family, desperately trying to rebuild their lives.
Speaking passionately to Info Radio, Mr. Issha Vampere, one of the storm’s victims, appealed directly to the district authorities, urging them to expedite the aid process. “We need the help now,” he said. “Our homes are still damaged, and many of us are living in hardship. We call on the District Chief Executive and NADMO to keep their promises and support us to return to normal life.” The community’s plea underscores the urgent need for prompt action to alleviate their suffering and restore stability to affected residents of Dornye.
