The Human Resource Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for Wa East District, Mohammed Damba, has called on residents of Katua to actively participate in safeguarding and maintaining the community’s educational facilities. Emphasizing the critical role of school infrastructure in fostering a conducive learning environment, Mr. Damba highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in preserving these vital assets.

In an interview with Info Radio, he stressed the need for prompt attention to deteriorating classroom structures. “Early renovations and repairs are essential to prevent minor damages from escalating into major structural issues that could compromise safety and learning,” he stated. He also urged community members to properly care for newly constructed and renovated classrooms to ensure their longevity and effectiveness in supporting education.

However, concerns were raised by local resident Hannan Dorimonaa, who noted that some classroom blocks have deteriorated to a point beyond the community’s capacity to repair. Dorimonaa appealed to the government, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to step in and provide the necessary support for refurbishing the affected facilities.

The call to action underscores the urgent need for collaborative efforts to maintain educational infrastructure and promote a sustainable learning environment in Wa East District.
