The chief and residents of Kpila, a farming community in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region have called on the government to prioritize the construction of essential roads connecting their community. Despite their efforts to maintain the roads, they admit that their initiatives fall short, leaving them to grapple with difficult and often impassable routes.
Speaking exclusively to Info News, Naa Yelko-ang Sylvester expressed their determination to improve the roads, even suggesting they are willing to gravel them if they can find someone to grade the roads first. "We have done what we can, but it’s not enough. We need proper construction to ease our struggles," he said.
Community resident like Barnabas Kpepuo, speaking to Info Radio shared his frustrations, describing the roads as a major obstacle in their daily lives. "It’s really not easy using these roads; they hinder our movement and productivity," he lamented.
Madam Yaa Eugen, a resident of Kpila, also emphasized the economic toll the poor road conditions are taking on the community. "Our livelihoods are suffering because we can't transport our goods effectively. We urgently need the government’s assistance," she urged.
The community’s plea underscores the urgent need for infrastructural development in Kpila, as residents hope their voices will prompt swift action to pave the way for a better, more connected future.
