Residents of Busa in the Wa Municipality are unhappy about the deplorable state of sanitation surrounding the community’s health centre.
According to them, the accumulation of refuse in the vicinity of the facility poses a significant threat to the health and wellbeing of both staff and patients.
Mr Ibrahim Long, a community member who spoke to Info Radio at Busa, expressed his disappointment with the Wa Municipal Assembly for failing to provide a refuse container for the facility despite several appeals to the assembly.
He mentioned that the community has been clearing the refuse around the facility, but that is not sufficient to keep the place clean at all times.
“One issue that worries us in this community, and we have been appealing to the assembly to help us is the deplorable sanitation around our health centre. If you go to the health centre, the nurses there live with refuse,” he stated.
He called on the Wa Municipal Assembly to take prompt measures to rectify the situation and provide a suitable refuse container to mitigate the risk of disease transmission.
Mr. Sumaila Inusah, the Assembly Member for the Busa Electoral Area, stated that he has made efforts to ensure that the assembly provides the community with a refuse container.
He revealed that he made efforts to reach Zoomlion Ghana Limited to provide a refuse container to mitigate the effects of the refuse and was informed that the Wa Municipal Assembly owed them some money.
However, the company requested that he let the assembly write to them asking for a refuse container for the Busa community.
