Bede Ziedeng commends Lawra MCE for a good collaboration

Bede A. Ziedeng-Lawra Constituency MP

The Member of Parliament for Lawra Constituency, Bede A. Ziendeng has commended the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Lawra, Jacob Dery for an effective working collaboration.

According to the MP, the MCE has always collaborated with him and sometimes joined him to commission some projects he initiated in the constituency.

Mr Ziedeng delivering his speech at the Climax of the 2023 Senkaa Festival of the chiefs and people of the Eremon Divisional Area of the Lawra Traditional Area noted he will work with the MCE to bring development to the constituency.

The Festival is an occasion of Thanksgiving to the Almighty God for giving the people  a good harvest of groundnuts and other food crops, hence the name Eremon Senkaa Festival.

“I therefore wish to reiterate my call on all to come on board so that we can forge the development of this Constituency. In this regard, I commend the MCE, Hon Jacob Dery, who has always co-operated with me and even joined me on some occasions to commission some projects,” he stated.

Mr Jacob Dery is running for the parliamentary seat against the incumbent MP, Bede Ziedeng, in the 2024 election. Mr Ziedeng pledged that the two of them will conduct decent campaigns.

“In next year’s election, he will be my opponent but I can assure you that the two of us will continue to work together for the development of the constituency and the Municipality.

Indeed we shall lead and conduct our campaigns in a manner never seen before- to be devoid of insults, rancour, and bitterness. We shall teach Ghanaians that being political opponents should not create enmity especially between or among the candidates,” he added.

Referring to the Yaa Naa's advice to the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to regard the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, as his elder brother and not an adversary, the Member of Parliament for Lawra, remarked that "Here in Lawra, it will also be a contest between brothers. Let's keep it fair and clean."

In his address, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Lawra, Mr Jacob Dery also assured the people of Lawra that “my good self definitely will conduct a very clean campaign devoid of insults, acrimonies among other bad virtues.”

He added that both of them have “agreed that we are in those positions to serve our people to the best of our ability. We are only just political opponents but we are not enemies.”
