Bad roads affect economic activities at Tabiasi

The residents of Tabiasi in the Daffiama-Bussei-Issa district are facing significant challenges due to the deplorable state of their road networks, hindering economic activities and daily life in the area.

The road that connects the community to other communities has been described as particularly problematic, with potholes and rough surfaces making travel difficult for vehicles and pedestrians.

Residents have expressed their frustrations, citing the negative impact on their livelihoods and well-being. Despite promises from local authorities, efforts to address the issue have been slow, failing to materialize into tangible improvements.

Community leaders and residents are calling for urgent action from the government to rehabilitate the road networks and alleviate the hardships faced by the people of Tabiasi.

However, residents remain skeptical and emphasize the need for immediate action to alleviate their suffering and revitalize economic activities in the area.

Mr Sadique Abdul Fatawu, a youth in the community, bemoaned the bad nature of the road.

Meanwhile, the assembly member for the area, Mr Badia Songdon, said the road from Issa through Tabiasi to Saazie is vital for the transportation of goods and services, but its deterioration has led to increased transportation costs and delays in the movement of people and goods.

The poor road conditions have not only affected farmers' ability to transport their produce to markets but also hindered access to healthcare facilities and educational institutions.

In response to the outcry, authorities have pledged to prioritize the rehabilitation of the roads, acknowledging the vital role they play in the economic development of the district.

The assembly member is worried that work is yet to commence on the road, despite the fact that the DCE, Nadi Imoro Sanda has announced that the road has been awarded to a contractor for work to begin soon.
