Azumah Resources impacting communities in Upper West Region

The Azumah Resources Ghana Limited, a gold mining company in the Upper West Region, says it is committed to improving the livelihood of its mining host communities as well as promoting development in the region through its Cooperate Social Responsibility.

It said the company has been supporting host communities and districts in diverse sectors including the provision of potable water, health, education, and sports among others.

Mr. Solomon Dery, the Senior Community Relations Officer of the company, said this at Nadowli on the sideline of a volleyball tournament organised by the mining firm as part of its commitment to building its ties with the people in the region, especially its mining communities.

We’re supporting a pproject in the Nadowli-Kaleo District which has been roofed. We’ve drilled a number of boreholes and also repaired a number of broken down boreholes. As we speak with the support of the community in Charikpong we’re constructing a maternity ward which has been roofed and is almost completed.

We’re also doing another one in Kuuri community which is at the footing level. As much as possible we try to improve the local economy in the areas that we operate,” Mr Dery added.

He said the Community Relations Department of the company is to take actions to resolve challenges between the company and the communities.

He thus urged the community members who have concerns about the operations of Azumah Resources to contact the Community Relations Department of the company to have their concerns addressed.
