Assembly Member for Ponyentanga calls for upgrading and extension of electricity

Assembly Member for Ponyentanga Electoral Area in the Wa West District, Hon. Amadu K. Hamid has called for the upgrading and extension of electricity to all households in the Ponyentanga community.

Hon. Hamid said some parts of the community have been in darkness even though the community had been connected to the national grid.

He said the community was connected to the grid many years ago and as such the emergence of new buildings and technologies has necessitated the extension and upgrading of the electric connectivity in the community.

He lamented that even though there is electricity in the community, certain electric-powered machines cannot be used there due the type of connection that was done.

He also added that the situation is affecting the academic performance of the students who had to struggle under unfavourable conditions to learn.

He also hinted that the Tendoma community in the Electoral Area was lucky to have had electric poles erected and wired but was however concerned over the fact that they have not been provided electric meters yet.

The Assembly Member has also called on the Government to consider extending electricity to the communities in his electoral area that do not have electricity yet.
