All 20 aspirants approved to contest NPP parliamentary primaries in UWR

Twenty (20) aspirants have been recommended by the vetting committee for the Upper West Region to contest in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries in eight (8) orphan constituencies.

This was made known to Info Radio by Dr Daniel Tanko Dawda, the Upper West Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party.

The Nadowli-Kaleo constituency had only one candidate going unopposed.

“The orphan constituencies are eight but fortunately or unfortunately in one of the constituency’s only one candidate applied, we did his vetting and he is already a candidate contesting,” Dr Tanko explained.

The committee recommended four candidates each for the Wa West and Wa Central constituencies and three candidates each for the Lawra and Wa East constituencies.

The remaining constituencies were: three in Sissala West, two in Jirapa, and two in Daffiama-Bussie-Issa.

The Wa West, Sissala West, Wa Central, and Jirapa each have a woman contesting in the primaries.

Dr Tanko expressed gratitude to the aspirants and the party's leadership for a successful vetting exercise.

He also urged all candidates to conduct their campaigns in a civil manner, to ensure that the party can unite after the primaries to execute their 2024 agenda of 'breaking the 8'.
