An Agricultural extension officer and a seasoned farmer have called on farmers in the Upper West Region to expedite their preparations for the dry season, emphasizing the importance of timely action to prevent overlapping activities with the rainy season. During a recent broadcast of Info Radio’s popular agricultural program, "Bangkuobu", panelists highlighted that delayed dry season farming often results in unfavorable market prices and reduced profitability.
Musah Zakaria, a seasoned Agric extension officer, advised farmers who have yet to commence preparations to act swiftly. “The earlier farmers begin their dry season activities, the better they can position themselves to take advantage of market opportunities and avoid conflicts with the rainy season,” he stated.
In addition, Mr. Nurideen Ibrahim, recognized as the 2025 Wa West District Best Farmer, emphasized the need for diversification during the dry season. He encouraged farmers to explore varied farming activities to maximize their gains and ensure sustainable livelihoods amid changing climatic conditions.
