Some tailors and hairdressers in Wa are experiencing a significant decline in business compared to previous years.

Usually, during this season, tailors are swamped with orders and have to work long hours to create clothes for their clients for church services, parties, weddings, and other events.

However, due to the current economic situation, most of them are struggling to make ends meet. The braiding salons are also not as busy as they used to be, and there are no long queues.

Some tailors and hairdressers speaking to Info Radio mentioned that this year’s Christmas is slow and expressed their concern over the inability of their customers to pay for their services after sewing.

The owner of Mama Fat Fashion, Madam Barikisu stated that "The poor state of the economy this year has resulted in fewer customers coming in for dressmaking services this Christmas season. Even those who have dropped off their clothes for sewing are finding it difficult to return for pickup after we have completed the work. We have sewn several dresses, but unfortunately, their owners have not yet come to collect them.”

Madam Sherifa Abdullai, a hairdresser, noted that her business is not going well this year due to the high cost of goods.

“Compared to last year, business has been slow this year. In the past, we had to stay overnight due to work overload while this year our customers are complaining about the economic hardship,” she stated.
