The incumbent Member of Parliament for the Wa West Constituency, Hon. Peter Lanchene Tuobu, Supt(Rtd), has been retained by National Democratic Congress delegates as the parliamentary candidate for elections 2024.

Two other aspirants, Mr Bandanaa Patric Pharuk and Mr Nicholas Guong Yokuu also contested the slot but fell short of the trust of the delegates.

Hon. Lanchene pulled 892 votes out of 1,244 valid votes cast, while Mr Bandanaa had 202 while Mr Yokuu trailed behind with 150 votes.

Hon. Peter Lanchene Tuobu, speaking to Info Radio during the election, said the delegates were voting for their choice of a candidate who they want him to represent them in parliament and that whoever won was the decision of the delegates.

Hon. Lanchene indicated that he has a long-term vision for the development of the constituency and parliament is about talking, lobbying and influencing.
