Wa West DCE works to improve security situation in district

The Wa West District Chief Executive (DCE), Madam Vida Diorotey, has indicated that the District Assembly is working assiduously with the police to ensure that the security infractions in the district are reduced to the barest minimum if not ended.

She said armed robbery, snatching of motorbikes and attack had become the order of the day in the district but assured that with the intervention of the police the security situation in the district will improve.

Madam Diorotey, who said this in an interview with Info Radio at Wechiau, added that she had sleepless night since she took over the reins of leadership of the assembly because the people could not move about with their daily activities freely.

“When I came to office as the DCE I have meet with the Regional and District Police Commands. I have negotiated with the Regional Police Command and have secured two motorbikes for the District Police Command. The District is providing the police with fuel for patrols”, she explained.

Madam Diorotey added that the regional police command has also commenced patrols on the Nakore-Wechiau stretch to help word-off the miscreants from that road.

The DCE also indicated that the Member of Parliament for the area had provided two motorbikes for the district police to further improve their visibility and patrols.

The DCE also appealed to the people to volunteer information on those perpetuating the crimes in the district for the necessary action to be taken against them.

“Since these patrols started, we have not heard of any robbery, snatching of motorbike or attack on our roads”, Madam Diorotey added.
