Wa Naa bans selling of land at Temdamba/Napogbakole residential area


Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV-President of the Wala Traditional Councill

The paramount chief of Wa and President of the Wala Traditional Council, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV has banned the lease on land lying and situated at the Temdamba/Napogbakole residential area in Wa.


Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV in a press release on Friday, April 5, mentioned that the council's attention has been drawn to the fact that the Lands Commission, Upper West Region have plans to sell the said land to private developers.


“Our attention has been drawn to the fact that there are plans by your Office to lease the said piece of land to individual developers. For the avoidance of doubt, I am referring to the Wa Tendamba Primary School Land.”


The statement says that “the area under reference was acquired by the Government of Ghana for educational purpose. The reason for its acquisition has not changed and as such it cannot be rezoned and leased to private individuals.”


The Wala Traditional Council President directed the Lands Commission in the Upper West Region to cease forthwith, the process of preparing leases on the land for individuals.


The Wa Naa also “warned the general public against making any such moves to acquire either for their personal interests or any other persons or entities, any portions of the lands belonging to the Tendamba Primary School or any other educational institutions within the Wala State Traditional Area.”


The statement concluded that anyone who does anything to the contrary after “this press release does so at their own peril.”
