Upper West: RESEC outlines pragmatic measures to check growing insecurity

The Upper West Regional Security Council (RESEC) has outlined pragmatic strategies and measures following the growing incidence of murders and disappearances of people in the region.

It said it has put its issues on high alert following the seemly unending criminality being recently experienced in the Wa Municipality which has made residents live in fear and anxiety.

The RESEC has urged increased cooperation and collaboration among the intelligence agencies adding that it sought to deepen engagement with inhabitants within the municipality in line with contemporary security practices.

A statement signed by the chairman of the RESEC who is also the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih spelt out a number of these measures and strategies to curb the peril in the Wa Municipality.

Unregistered motorcycles in the Wa Municipality shall be arrested and prosecuted, the statement said.

It encouraged the formation of Community and Neighborhood Watchdog Committees that would be profiled, trained and licensed by the Ghana Police Service.
