Tibani residents cry bitterly over water challenges, say it affects their lives and businesses

Residents of Tibani in the Jang Electoral Area of the Nadowli-Keleo District in the Upper West Region have complained bitterly about the inadequate water supply in the community which is adversely affecting their lives and businesses.

In an interview with Info Radio at the community, Madam Ruth Babainasi, a resident, said they always spend valuable time waiting to fetch water because they have outnumbered the two boreholes at the community.

She explained that they have to go early in the morning and come late in the evening and that, due to long queues, there are always misunderstandings between them which she describes as worrying.

Mr. Frebu Dumba noted that the water situation affects procreation in the community.

According to him young ladies in other communities do not want to marry to men of the Tibani community due to the lack of water.

Mr. Sebastian Dangbie stated that, they have spent over GHs12,000 within the last few years on repairs and maintenance of the boreholes as they intermittently break down.

He added that the recent GHs6,000 they contributed to mechanize one of the boreholes have been used to undertake maintenance and repairs yet again.

He said the situation has left them in great worry as the water challenges persist.

The residents, therefore, appealed to government and benevolent organizations to come to their aid and alleviate their suffering.
