The deplorable nature of the Wa to Sing Road has always been a central issue of concern for users of the road.

The prime nature of the road makes it crucial for agricultural and commercial purposes, especially for many communities in the Wa municipality and Wa East districts of the Upper West region.

The chief of Sing, Naa Issahaku Mahama, in an interview with Info Radio, expressed his frustration at the poor nature of the road.

‘As a paramount chief, can you imagine that I can’t dress in my traditional regalia when travelling to Wa because of the profuse dust on the road? My people are truly suffering, he added.

In his quest to drum home the challenges the deplorable nature of the Wa to Sing through to Boli road is unleashing on his people, the c, in an exclusive interview on Info Radio’s Zine Yiri Yela, he highlighted how all major roads leading from communities from the hinterland to Wa have been tarred yet the Boli-Sing road has been virtually neglected.

Since the era of President Kufuor to Prof Mills and Nana Akufo-Addo, attempts have always been made to construct this road. Even under the first term of Akufo-Addo Addo when some gutters were constructed and part of the road graveled. Hence, I never believed the contractor would stop abruptly.’

Hon Mubarik was emphatic that his electoral area has the second largest market in the Wa municipality, yet communities in his electoral area aren’t interlinked with access roads.

Piisi market is the second most patronised market in the Wa Municipality, yet we don’t have access roads from other parts of our electoral area to Piisi. This makes commerce for us laborious and expensive. We call on the Department of Feeder Roads to address this challenge.

The Sing assemblyman also implored the John Mahama-led government to make the construction of the Wa to Boli road a priority.

He indicated that since the status of Wa has been upgraded from a municipality to a metropolis, it would be crucial for the road to be fixed to give the metropolis a facelift.
