The Assemblyman for Konkuo Electoral Area and the Chairman of the Jirapa Zonal Council Hon. Douglas Baalie Goolee, has publicly expressed deep concern over the increasing number of road accidents within the Jirapa Municipality, particularly in Jirapa Township.

In an interview with Info Radio on the Tizine Yiri Yele program, Hon. Goolee lamented the tragic loss of lives, noting that approximately five young people have lost their lives due to reckless over-speeding on key routes including the Jirapa-Nyeni-Kuucheni road, the Jirapa-Gbare-Sabuli road, and connecting roads from Baazu to Jirapa Township, Tizza, and Tampoe.

He emphasized the urgent need for safety measures and appealed to the Assembly and the Urban Roads Department to consider installing speed ramps along these accident-prone routes. “Speed ramps could significantly reduce over-speeding and save lives,” Hon. Goolee remarked.

Addressing infrastructure concerns beyond road safety, Hon. Goolee highlighted the lack of a proper road network connecting Konkuo Electoral Area to neighboring communities. As Zonal Council Chairman, he said he has taken proactive steps to address this issue by including it in the medium-term development plan submitted to the Jirapa Municipal Assembly.

The Assembly has issued project application forms to community members, encouraging local participation in infrastructure development initiatives. “Our goal is to improve connectivity and safety for all residents,” Hon. Goolee stated.
