Residents of Teyaga , a farming community in the Nadowli -Kaleo District of the Upper West Region have appeal to the Nadowli-Kaleo District Assembly and the government to establish a Junior High School (JHS) within the community, citing urgent needs to improve access to quality education. The community’s call comes amid growing concerns over the challenges faced by students due to the absence of a local secondary institution.

Speaking to Info Radio, community members highlighted that the lack of a JHS forces children to undertake long and perilous journeys to neighboring communities to continue their education. This situation not only exposes students to safety risks but also places significant physical and financial burdens on parents. Residents emphasized that establishing a JHS in Teyaga would greatly ease access to education, promote school attendance, and enhance the overall well-being of students.

Students from Teyaga speaking to Info Radio in an interview voiced their frustrations over the exhausting daily commutes, which leave them with limited energy for effective study after long travels. They further cited inadequate infrastructure, including poor road conditions and the absence of electricity, as additional barriers hindering their academic performance. The youth appealed to authorities and development partners to address these infrastructural deficits alongside the urgent need for a local Junior High School.
