Residents of Niiri bemoaned healthcare challenges due to lack of health facility

Residents of Niiri in the Takpo-Tuori Electoral Area of the Nadowli-Kaleo District have bemoaned the lack of Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) in the community which is posing challenges to them in accessing primary healthcare.

According to the residents, they have to go to Takpo to access antenatal care at the Takpo Health Center due to the lack of a CHPS compound at Niiri.

In an interview with Info Radio in the community, Mr. Tampaa Benjamin and Madam Grace Yemeh said, pregnant women are suffering.

The residents indicated that they have started gathering sand to build the CHPS compound but due to economic hardship they are financially bankrupt and appealed for support.

Another resident of the community, Mr. Kwesi Takpo-Naa indicated that if they do not get motorbikes, they will walk to the health facility and the sick person’s situation worsens.

Mr. Angna-e Moses, also a resident, indicated that their Members of parliament both former and current and the District Chief Executive (DCE) have been assuring them of CHPS compound, but they are not seeing any signs of it.

Madam Habiba Tampaa lamented that women suffer a lot because they do not have a health facility in the community.

They are therefore appealing to benevolent organizations to come to their aid.
