Residents of Jolinyiri , a farming community in the Daffiama/Busie/Issa district of the Upper West Region have expressed grave concerns over the state of infrastructure and access to essential services, describing conditions that hinder their livelihoods and daily lives.

The predominantly agricultural settlement faces persistent challenges with its poor road network, which significantly impairs farmers' ability to transport produce to nearby markets. During the rainy season, these roads become nearly impassable, further exacerbating economic hardships and limiting residents' access to education, healthcare, and other vital services.

In an interview with Info Radio,Mr Bukari Saaluu, the Assembly Member for Jolinyiri, underscored the severity of the situation. He pointed out that roads connecting Jolinyiri to neighboring communities such as Bannonyiri and Kojokperi are in a deplorable state. Despite the district assembly generating substantial revenue from the area, residents have yet to see meaningful improvements in road infrastructure.

Mr. Saaluu emphasized the urgent need for a dam to support livestock and facilitate dry-season farming, which he believes would bolster food security and improve income levels among residents.

The Assembly Member also highlighted the community’s struggle with unreliable telecommunications services. Weak or nonexistent network coverage hampers residents' ability to communicate with relatives and access critical information, adding to their hardships.

Residents are calling on local authorities to prioritize infrastructural development and enhance basic services to improve living conditions and economic prospects in Jolinyiri.
