The Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) Chairman of Dabilipuo D/A Basic School in the Wa East District, Mr. Andrews Daari Dagil, has appealed to government to provide the school with a standard classroom block to replace the temporary structures currently in use.

According to him, the school, which was established in 2010 through a self-help community initiative, still operates in stock-pavilion classrooms constructed by residents while waiting for government intervention.

He explained that although teachers have since been posted to the school, the lack of proper classrooms continues to affect effective teaching and learning.

Mr. Daari Dagil revealed that parents and guardians once contributed resources to roof some of the makeshift structures, but a storm later destroyed them, worsening the situation.

“The children are learning under very difficult conditions. We urgently need a permanent school block so that they can study in a safe and conducive environment,” he appealed.

The PTA Chairman also highlighted other challenges facing the school, including a lack of furniture and the absence of support under the School Feeding Programme.

He said parents and guardians often contribute food after harvest to feed the pupils, but supplies usually run out by April or May each year, leaving the children without meals during the second term.

Mr. Daari Dagil therefore called on government, development partners, and benevolent organizations to support the Dabilipuo community by constructing a permanent school block, providing furniture, and enrolling the school under the school feeding programme to enhance teaching and learning.
