Updated: Feb 23, 2023

Professor Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba, an astute African anti-corruption activist from Kenya, is expected to make a grand entry into Sankana, a community in the Nadowli-Kaleo District on Friday, February 24, 2023, to interact with the Chiefs and people of Sankana Traditional Area.

His visit to the Sankana traditional area was premised on his relationship with Mr Bernard A. Mornah, a former National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC).

Mr Eric Dakurah, the secretary to the Paramount Chief of the Sankana Traditional Area, Naa Pagranige Saakoe Mornah III, revealed this in an interview with Info Radio in Wa.

According to Mr Eric Dakurah , Prof PLO Lumumba would be in Ghana to grace the 2023 Danjuar festival of the Bimobas in the North East Region as the Guest of Honour on the invite of Mr Mornah who is the Biss Naab of the Bimoba people.

Mr Dakurah indicated that Prof PLO Lumumba saw that as an opportunity to visit the hometown of Mr Mornah due to their friendship.

According to Prof PLO Lumumba “if Bernard is his friend and Bernard has invited him to come to a different region to be the guest of honour for a festival in this 2023, then will visit Bernard’s hometown and interact with the chiefs and elders of his community”, he explained.

Mr Dakurah explained that the chiefs of the Sankana Traditional Area see the visit of the celebrated African patriot as an honour and in order to reciprocate the honour, they will also give him a chieftaincy title.

“On the 24th of February, that is Friday, our Guest of Honour will be with us and a title will be conferred on him. The title name I am not clothed with the powers that be traditionally to mention.

We consider PLO Lumumba’s visit to Sankana as an honour so the traditional council wants to reciprocate, and to reciprocate gesture we want to give him is to give the title, a befitting title, and the chiefs will do as such”, Mr Dakurah Explained.

He observed that the enskinment ceremony will be characterized by the rich culture of the chiefs and people of the Sankana Traditional Area including their language, dressing, food, and other historical articulations of the area which no one would like to miss.

The secretary further indicated that Prof. Lumumba would call on the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, and the overlord of the Wala Traditional Area, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, to announce his presence in the region before proceeding to Sankana for the enskinment rituals.
