Papu community MtMSG holds annual get-together

The Mother-to-Mother Support Group (MtMSG) at the Papu community in the Sombo West Electoral Area of the Nadowli-Kaleo District recently held their annual get-together.

The event aimed to assess and evaluate the group's contributions in providing better health services to mothers in the community.

Mother-to-Mother Support Groups (MtMSG) are groups of women, of any age, who come together to learn about and discuss issues related to infant and young child nutrition (IYCN).

These women also support each other as they care for children between the ages of 0 and 5 years.

During the event, Madam Amina Siita, a leader of the support group, highlighted the benefits of the group to the members and the community.

"When I came to this community, I found a supportive group called 'Mother to Mother.' I was impressed with the way they carried out their activities and decided to join them. Being a part of this group has helped me learn a lot of new things."

"We have been taught how to prepare nutritious and balanced meals for ourselves and our children," she added.

Madam Phoebe Balagumyemtime, the District Director of Health Services in Nadowli-Kaleo, spoke at an event where she advised residents to be aware of the rising cases of cerebrospinal meningitis (CSM) in the district.

She also mentioned that she plans to appeal to the district assembly to complete the health facility at Papu on time, as it will help to improve the quality of health services provided to the community.
