Mr. Pius Enam Hadzide, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority (NYA), has suggested that the B. K. Adama Multipurpose Youth Resource Centre should be commissioned in a grand style after the phase two of the project has been completed.

He said the phase two of the project was about 45 per cent completed and should be fully completed before the end of this year (2022) as the phase one of the project had been completed ready for commissioning.

The CEO said this when he visited the site on Monday to inspect progress of work at the facility on the request of the Upper West regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih.

Earlier, Dr. Salih recommended the project should be commissioned in August when the President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo visits region once the phase one had been completed.

But Mr Hadzide said that move would give room for unsolicited criticism from a section of the public that an uncompleted project had been commissioned.

“It will be our prayer and preference that because we are quite sure that in the next few months the phase two will be completed, even though the phase one is completed and ready for commissioning, the commissioning proper, we should wait and do it even after both phases are completed, the phase one and phase two are completed so it is just a few more months of waiting.

“But, Minister, you are indeed right that the phase one is complete and that the phase one is ready for commissioning but we want to make it a grand event so we can put the two, both the phase one and phase two together”, he explained.

Mr Hadzide indicated that the Youth Resources project in Wa remained keen on the agenda of the government and was at an advanced stage of completion than the other projects in other parts of the country and would be the first to be commissioned in the country.

The NYA CEO recognized that the multipurpose resource centre was dear to the heart of the Regional Minister and that the minister was concerned about its early completion.

According to Mr Hadzide, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic had caused the delay of the project but expressed hope that it would be completed and commissioned for use before the end of 2022.
