The regional executive committee of the New Patriotic Party in the Upper West Region has ordered all party executives and members of the party to boycott all activities involving the official visit of the president of Ghana Nana Akufo Addo to the Upper West Region of Ghana on the 21st August 2022.

The regional secretary of the party Dr. Tanko Dawda speaking to Wa-based Info Radio on Wednesday afternoon disclosed that the party regional executives took the decision due to the non-involvement of regional party executives by the Upper West Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih in planning and preparation for the visit of the president to the region.

According to the NPP party scribe, the party regional executives invited the regional minister to a meeting regarding the visit of the president but he refused to honor the invitation without any reasonable excuse. According to him, the party members and executives are frustrated and are unaware of why the president is visiting the region and what activities he is going to undertake when in the Upper West Region.

The NPP regional executive has therefore accused the regional minister of hijacking all government programs and activities in the region without the involvement of party executives and members for a long time.

The party executives have therefore called on the regional minister to do the needful by working in harmony with party officials and members on all issues of governmental-related activities in the region to promote party unity and cohesion.

An effort is being made by Info Radio to contact the Upper West Regional minister for his side of the story. Tune to info radio 91.1 FM as we bring you updates on this developing story.
